I new year, a new decade, time to shine!!
I was just trying to predict the future sound for music for the "tens" and I went back to look at the early "noughties" and like remembered how much good music there was. Destiny's Child, Justin Timberlake, Britney Spears and I know they are still around now...(well Beyonce is) but I saw how their sound has progressed and transformed! And I guess thats a good thing, cause it keeps the new stuff fresh, and the older stuff thats any good memorable to that time. Which then got me thinking to were there any songs in the "noughties" that were timeless...like songs we'll still be singing and playing in 20 or 30 years time like... Livin' on a Prayer, or Summer of '69.
Like at the moment theres a few songs I can think of that will probably stand to that like...Umbrella, PokerFace, Where is the Love?. But I'm seeing how for example the Black Eyed Peas have gone from an earthy acoustic hip hop sound to a electro pop sound to move with the times. Even Timbaland who was, in my eyes, HUGE '06 to '08 has kinda disappeared somewhere (although he has just released a new album).
Anyway I think this year the sound will for sure be the new "electro party rock" thats coming out now; Kesha, Cobra Starship, and 3oh!3 are all producing hard hitting synth tracks. The Black Eyed Peas had their Electro album last year, Britney with 3. I think the club electro sound will be heard alot this year. Hard buzzy synths, with quick vocals! Just my prediction anyway. But where we'll be by the end of this decade I do not know! I just hope I'll be a big part of it!
SIDE NOTE!
Haven't been rehearsing with the band over the christmas period, but I'm super hyped to get back with the guys and jamming out the tracks. I have been trying to write some stuff recently so I'm keeping up with that. Trying to write one full song every 2 weeks!
ANYWAY!! Thanks for reading, Josh!
10 hours writing over the christmas period.
